5G UAV

In recognition of its 5G UAV applications

ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has been rewarded Best Practice Award for 5G Network and Terminal Coordination at China Unicom’s celebration event for the first anniversary of China’s 5G license issuance, in recognition of its excellent network performance of the 5G low-altitude private network.

On the private network, China Unicom and ZTE have demonstrated two typical applications of 5G UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) in river inspection and smart tourism. By means of the 5G SA network, a drone carrying 360 degree panoramic camera has collected landmark building pictures and transmitted the pictures to on-site audience, allowing them to view the spectacular landscape from the UAV perspective.

The demonstration is underpinned by ZTE’s Massive MIMO technology, which has won multiple international awards. Featuring more flexible horizontal and vertical beams, narrow beams and ultra-large capacity, ZTE’s Massive MIMO is capable of reducing interference while improving spectrum efficiency and increasing upstream capacity, so that 4K video stream from UAV can be successfully transmitted.

As one of the mainstream 5G applications, 5G UAV can be widely deployed in various scenarios, such as drone logistics, live broadcast, agricultural and geological survey. Moving forward, ZTE will continue to work with China Unicom to expand 5G applications in the UAV field
