ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a leading provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the mobile internet, has declared 1,424 families of 5G Standard-Essential Patents(SEP) and patent applications to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), by June 15, 2019, thereby being included global top 3, according to IPlytics, a market intelligence tool to analyze technology trends, market developments and a company’s competitive position.

Standard-Essential Patent ownership is one of the main manifestations of the technical strength in the industry. Compliant with the requirements of ETSI, ZTE has timely disclosed its 5G Standard-Essential Patents to the industry.

With 5G as its core strategy for development, ZTE has been focusing on the R&D commitment to 5G-related fields including wireless, core networks, transport, chipset, and devices, expecting to reshape technologically leading advantages. The company has more than 3,500 5G patent applications as well as over 200 5G chipset patents. In 2018, the company’s R&D investment accounted for more than 12% of its revenue.
